About Dr Tang
Dr Shiyang Tang is a Scientia Associate Professor and ARC Future Fellow in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia (UNSW Sydney). He is also an Associate Professor in the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton, UK.
He received his BEng (1st class honours) in Electrical Engineering and PhD in Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) from RMIT University, Australia, in 2012 and 2015, respectively. He went to the Pennsylvania State University (PSU) and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) to conduct his postdoctoral research in bio-microfluidics. He returned to Australia and joined the University of Wollongong as a Vice-Chancellor's Postdoctoral Research Fellow in 2017. He is the recipient of the Future Fellowship and Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) from the Australian Research Council. Before joining Southampton, Dr Tang was a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the Department of Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering at the University of Birmingham, UK.
Dr Tang has published ~120 papers in high-impact journals, including PNAS, Nature Communications, Science Advances, Matter, Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Advanced Science, Small, Biosensors & Bioelectronics, Analytical Chemistry, and Lab on a Chip. Dr Tang is the Associate Editor of the Journal of Nanobiotechnology and serves on the Editorial Board of MetalMat, Sensors, Scientific Reports, and Health Nanotechnology.
